The Secondary Level of Sanit Patrick’s College offers an integral formation of the person with an
outstanding academic level, a strong articulation with the university level and an intensive teaching
of the English language. We seek educate in values, form good people and stimulate the development of
the maximum cognitive potential in a pleasant and warm climate.
A little history:
Since 1902, the Saint Patrick's Catholic Association has remained faithful to its goal of propagating the Catholic faith and preserving
the customs and traditions of Éire. With more than a century of history, it stands as an emblem of the Irish cultural heritage
for the entire community of Rosario. Thus, it brings together both Irish descendants and those who
identify with their history, providing spaces for development and containment. On March 17, 2015, it was declared
"Distinguished Institution of the City of Rosario" by the City Council.
The Argentine-Irish community of Rosario, lover of freedom, of their land and of their adopted homeland,
crystallized his dreams of spreading his values in the creation of a Catholic, bilingual and co-educational school.
In 1969 it was founded. the Primary School, with seventy-five students, the separation of classrooms by screens and with the dirt playground.
However, the precariousness of the building was more than made up for by other benefits that were seen by those who, with their choice,
they allowed to materialize what until then was a dream. Similarly, in 1981 the Secondary Institute was launched, with forty students.
Thus, the educational proposal became a reality.
Spiritual and emotional Education:
The San Juan Society carries out the pastoral task in our school
(www.socsj.org). This one specializes in the young
and in attracting to the Faith people who have drifted away. Two priests/missionaries attend the institution and participate
in the coordination of the Religious Formation Department, celebrations, gatherings, confession, thematic talks
and all activities related to the spiritual development of our students.
Together with spiritual development, emotional education is a fundamental axis of our institutional project.
For this reason, students attend emotional education and soft skills workshops every year provided by
specialized staff. We also have a transversal and interdisciplinary program of Education in Prevention,
which includes comprehensive sexual education from the formation of values and character, as well as as prevention of addictions,
violence, bullying, cyberbullying and eating disorders.
Tutoring and Psychopedagogical Accompaniment System:
Our school has an institutional psychologist and educational psychologist who coordinates a team of tutors.
Each course has its assigned tutor, who works together and in constant communication with the preceptor.
The objective of this team is the prevention, early detection and comprehensive approach to academic and social problems,
both individual and group. This space is a tool at the students service, wich can also use
when they need to talk or express themselves about a concern.
Intensive English language teaching:
At the secondary level, students have two hours of English class every day, with the aim that they can
successfully take various international exams. English teachers communicate with students
exclusively in that language within the school, which helps to create a bilingual environment. The teaching of English
is channeled through various subjects, such as Orality, Writing, Comprehensive Reading, Comprehensive Listening and
Use of language.
The English Department is a fundamental and prominent pillar of the school, not only for teaching the language but
also because it makes Irish identity and culture. In this sense, the English teaching process is used to
transmit the history, values and traditions of that culture.
Sports Day:
The students are divided into two houses, represented by the colors of the Irish flag.
At annual sporting events, students compete with each other in an environment of respect and teamwork.
Teaching healthy competition involves values such as effort, commitment, solidarity, knowing how to win and knowing how to lose,
so as the idea that, regardless of the result, the effort and experience are worth it and life always gives us new opportunities.
Extended hourly load:
The secondary level has an extended morning session of 9 class hours every day of the week.
Likewise, three days a week the students have three class hours at afternoon.
This extended day allows us to delve into the specific areas of the guidelines, coming up with University Level topics,
so such as intensive English language instruction, computing, a common core of social and humanistic subjects
and special curricular spaces, oriented towards practical skills and/or non conventional,
based on the theory of multiple intelligences to achieve a diverse and comprehensive cognitive stimulation.
